All Head Start programs require research-based and best practices be implemented throughout the program. Providing services to children and families includes understanding high-quality environments, lesson planning, health & safety, and supporting all children in their development.
Participants learn how to design high-quality environments including material selection, room design, and zoning. Content is EHS and HS appropriate.
Particpants use the Environmental Planning for to discuss how they will facilitate room layout, effective teaching practices, support dual language learners, add materials for learning, and provide learning through meals.
Participants learn about individualizing for children, taking observations, and assessing child development.
Participants learn the function of lesson planning and adapting the plan for children's needs.
Participants discuss high-quality teaching practices to use in classrooms with children to support children's development.
